AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing general information
The GCD test is a certification program that tests dogs in simulated everyday situations in relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere. The CGC program rewards dogs that have the training and demenaor to be a reliable family member as well as community members in good standing.
Some of the Do's & Don'ts for talking this test:
DO make sure your hound is freshly groomed, nails short, ears and teeth clean.
Do bring a bucket or regular or slip collar (no head or prong collars).
Do keep your leash loose on all walking exercises.
Do bring a brush. Do NOT have treats in your pocket during your test.
Do NOT utilize harsh corrections.
Do NOT allow your dog to relieve itself in the ring.
*These things will cause automatic dismissal.
