Sweepstakes Critique - Connie Smalley

6-9 Month Males

1. Glenamadda Starkeeper Armagh. Much better moving, good drive, beautiful neck and shoulder layback with a wonderful head and expression, a really nice solid puppy.

2. Taliesin’s Waylan Warrior. Really nice moving, great depth, nice ears. Good strength and strong stifle.

3. Taliesin’s Waleron. Another nice puppy on the move. Nice neck and shoulder. Strong. Tomorrow could be over number 2.

4. Glenamadda Starkeeper Victory. Got here on his movement. Nice neck and shoulder good expression. Very nice croup.

9-12 Month Males

1. Tomahawke’s Cedar of Shanachie. It was the movement and drive on this puppy. A really strong loin and low hocks, very nice neck set but his ears are not his forte.

2. Kellamore Braemar of Fitzwick. This puppy has a lovely neck and really great ears with good bone and more drive than the third place dog.

3. Armaitiu Corcragael Cruac Draoi. This is a little different type. He has a great rear but not the bone nor as strong over the loin as the first two yet is every bit as good as number one and two in many ways.

4. Athair Crionna O’Ros. Well balanced young boy with nice low hocks and easy moving.

12-15 Month Males

1. Taliesin’s Lasanta Dragon. From the time he entered the ring his movement just stood out. He is well balanced with lovely neck , great long legs and beautiful top line.

2. Kellykerry Penn of Sidhe. This puppy has all the bone and strong loin and lovely head. Very nice on the move.

3. Sidhe’s Domino Dancer De Burgh. Nice bone with good height and nice head. Didn’t move as well as number two.

4. Rosslare’s Dubhghaill O’Beltane. Nice expression, not as much bone as 2 and 3. Moved better the second time around. Just needs time to grow up and find himself.

15-18 Month Males

1. Carrickaneena Slieve Gullion. It is the movement. The reach and drive, the strength in the loin, the length of leg. What a stallion-like hound. This is one to keep an eye on for the future.

2. Ber-D-Mar’s Classic Cruiser. The boy is in a growth spurt but did show his movement. A nice tall boy that will, I am sure, get it all together and be a stunner.

3. Sherwood’s Little John. Nice rear. Not as big as some but well balanced with a nice way of moving.

4. Stoneybrook Keona of Tobi-Tor. This dog is a little fat but considering that moved very well. Right now his front is not his forte but when his chest drops should be fine.

6-9 Month Females There were 10 bitches in the class that on any day could win anywhere.

1. Pitlochry’s Jagger. This girl has the bone and body that I would choose for my brood bitches. She has very nice movement, not too sure what will happen about the color or the coat.

2. Big Hill Just Jenn. This puppy has great movement, good bone and strong in the loin, as well as balanced and strong.

3. Carrickaneena Darcy Crionnacht. A very nice strong great moving bitch. Good loin and neck with nice bone.

4. Starkeeper Glenamadda Veronica. Nice front but a little long in the loin although she moved very well. This class had a multitude of riches.

9-12 Month Females Real quality in this class.

1. Armaitiu Deireadh. This is a lovely bitch with a rear that anyone would want on their brood bitches. She is well balanced, great spring of ribs and moved beautifully.

2. Lonnkyle Niamh. A very nice bitch whose movement I loved although she wasn’t quite as curvy as number one.

3. Riversong’s Road to Rosslare. A really nice front and rear on this bitch, just a little long in the gut but should be ok when her chest drops. Nice movement.

4. Carnasserie Cerridwen. This bitch was here on her movement. She has a very nice rear and good strength in the loin with great length of leg. Would like to see a little more width and spring of rib.

12-15 Month Females The movement on these four bitches was just superb. What a joy to watch.

1. Pitlochry’s Entry. Another well balanced strong moving bitch with excellent reach and drive. Good depth of chest and nice rise over the loin. So strong.

2. Wildisle Spicemate Charmer. Here is another lovely bitch. Curvy. Movement today not quite as good. Lovely sweep. On any day it would be a toss-up with number one.

3. Garbo of Eagle. Beautiful front and head and neck with strong movement. A really nice bitch.

4. Guffaw of Aerie. A good moving bitch with nice front and shoulder. So well balanced. Has a lovely head and wonderful eye.

15-18 Month Females

1. Erinwood Saving Grace of Ulster. A beautiful well balanced bitch, strong bone, beautiful head and neck and great lay back making the whole front assembly correct. Very nice rear with strong movement.

2. Ber-D-Mar Irish Rosie Moss. A great moving leggy bitch. Different style than number one but with lots to offer. Very strong reach and drive with great strength over the loin.

3. Karontara Mebd of Ard Talam. Balanced and curvy with good movement. A nice girl.

4. Carrickaneena An Dun. A workmanlike bitch with good movement and very nice front.

Best in Sweepstakes Pitlochry’s Entry. What a beautiful bitch. Strong, with so much movement. On the move she showed so much strength and drive with a wonderful sweep over the loin. She is just what I would look for in a juvenile to become a great brood bitch.

Best of Opposite Sex Carrickaneena Slieve Gullion. It is the movement. Strong and with strength and great reach and drive. Lovely side gait and sweep with a wonderful top line. A real Stallion and one with a great future I am sure.
